Town of Prattsville, New York

Prattsville is a small historic town in Greene County, New York, United States. It is named after Zadock Pratt, its founder.

The Town of Prattsville is located in the northwest part of the county, on the Catskill Mountaintop where Greene, Delaware and Schoharie Counties meet above the Schoharie Valley.

Prattsville is a town of people who care about each other, the community, its rich history and scenic beauty – people who want to share Prattsville’s rich heritage and move into the future with grace, vitality and vision.

Rebuilding Prattsville

On August, 28. 2011, Hurricane Irene caused record flooding in the town of Prattsville by the Schoharie Creek, causing major damage and destroying large areas of the town. Prattsville received widespread national news coverage since the town had nearly been washed away.
The people of Prattsville are determined to rebuild the town and are working together on a Recovery Plan.

Rebuild Prattsville - One neighbor at a time

The Prattsville community came together at a Design Workshop over the weekend of November 5th to come to consensus around a vision for Prattsville after the floods of August 28th.  After much discussion and support by a group of architects and planers, led by Margaret Irwin, Principal of River Street Planning & Development, a vision was developed.
At the same time, a group of Prattsville leaders came together from a Steering Committee to oversee the work towards realizing that vision.  They have created three subcommittees and gave each one goals.  The Steering Committee and subcommittees will work through January 2012 to create a plan for realizing the vision created by the residents of Prattsville.
